Dear NTU colleagues and students,

In accordance with the updated epidemic prevention guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Education, we would like to announce the latest epidemic prevention measures on the NTU campus:

  1. Mask-wearing requirements: It is now mandatory to wear masks when entering the NTU Health Center and when taking the NTU ambulance. Starting from May 31, it is recommended to wear masks when entering the NTU Health Center and when taking the NTU ambulance. For all other venues on campus, faculty, staff, and students may decide on their own whether to wear masks.
  2. Individuals diagnosed or tested positive for COVID-19: Please report it through the “Reporting Confirmed Cases” system on the NTU website for Disease Control (https://my.ntu.edu.tw/ntuwdc/ConfirmedReport.aspx).
  3. Individuals with mild or no symptoms: According to the latest epidemic prevention guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, individuals with mild or no symptoms should maintain self-health management at home from Day 0 to Day 5. It is also recommended not to come to school or work. The self-health management period can be ended earlier if tested negative.
  4. Individuals taking self-health management: During the self-health management period, please adhere to the self-health management regulations announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Individuals with symptoms are advised to avoid unnecessary outings. If there is a need to go out, please wear masks at all times and avoid places where social distancing cannot be maintained or close contact with unspecified individuals may occur. Additionally, please do not engage in close proximity or group activities, such as dining together, parties, public gatherings, or similar events.
  5. The epidemic prevention regulations for student dormitories are as follows:

  1) Students living in dormitories who have symptoms such as fever, acute respiratory infections, abnormal taste or smell, or diarrhea should bring their own rapid test kits. If tested positive, please report to the dormitory counselor or security personnel immediately.

  2) Dormitory students tested positive should return home for self-health management from Day 0 to Day 5. Please adhere to the self-health management regulations issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The self-health management period can be ended earlier if tested negative.

  3) Dormitory students who wish to remain on campus for self-health management should contact the dormitory counselor or dormitory security/front desk personnel to arrange accommodation in the “Epidemic Prevention Area.” Except for those who stay in single rooms in Prince House, please not stay in your original dormitory rooms.

  4) Dormitory students tested positive should rest in the “Epidemic Prevention Area” or single rooms in Prince House and avoid unnecessary outings. If there is a need to go out, please adhere to the self-health management regulations issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Please purchase test kits if rapid testing is required during the self-health management period.

  5) Roommates of students tested test positive (close contacts) can continue living in their original dormitory rooms. Please run rapid testing if necessary.

  6) International students entering Taiwan tested negative can move into the dormitory and resume normal activities.

  1. Regarding student leave arrangements, the adjustments are as follows:

  1) The “Vaccination Leave” at NTU will no longer be applicable starting today, and regular sick leave procedures will be reinstated.

  2) Students at NTU who are unable to attend in-person or online classes due to the COVID-19 situation may apply for “Epidemic Sick Leave” or "Epidemic Quarantine Leave" (No leave is required if classes can be attended online).

  3) Application for Epidemic Sick Leave:

If unable to attend classes in person or online due to this reason, students may apply for Epidemic Sick Leave within 5 days from the day of the positive test result (Day 0) and the following day. If a student remains positive after the sixth day and shows symptoms, they may continue to apply for Epidemic Sick Leave with a medical certificate until the day of testing negative, for a maximum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms or the first positive test date.
  2. b) Leave duration: Up to 6 days per application.
  3. c) Required documentation:
  4. i) Photo of COVID-19 positive test result (including the test kit, student name and ID, and test date).
  5. ii) Medical certificate (to be attached if the student remains positive after the sixth day and shows symptoms).

iii) Epidemic Sick Leave will not be recorded as absences and will not affect grading.

  4) Application for Epidemic Quarantine Leave:

  1. a) Explanation: Students tested positive for COVID-19 and require medium to severe quarantine measures (hospitalization) may apply for Epidemic Quarantine Leave by presenting Notice for Isolation Treatment issued by the government.
  2. b) Leave duration: As stated in Notice for Isolation Treatment.
