Dear NTU colleagues and students,
In accordance with the latest epidemic prevention guidelines announced by the Central Epidemic Command Center and the Ministry of Education, NTU would like to announce the following epidemic prevention measures, effective from October 13, 2022.
A. The measures for individuals diagnosed or tested positive for COVID-19 remain as follows:
- Please notify the epidemic prevention contact person of your unit/department and report to the “Reporting confirmed cases” system (https://my.ntu.edu.tw/ntuwdc/ConfirmedReport.aspx) of the NTU Website for Disease Control.
- Please take 7-day home isolation (1 person per room). After the expiration of the period, you can release from home isolation without taking a rapid test. Please maintain self-health management for the next seven days.
- During the 7-day self-health management period, please abide by the “Self-Health Management Compliance Items and Notice” announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Individuals can attend classes or enter an office, research room, and dormitory while maintaining self-health management.
B. The measures for individuals returning to Taiwan from abroad are adjusted as follows:
- Please notify the epidemic prevention contact person of your unit/department and report to the "Reporting system for personnel under quarantine" system (https://my.ntu.edu.tw/ntuwdc/reportingE.aspx) of the NTU Website for Disease Control.
- Please take self-initiated prevention for 7 days.
- The 7-day self-initiated prevention can be taken in dormitories, under the principle of 1 person per room with a private bathroom. Faculty, staff, and students returning to Taiwan on the same day can stay in the same room. Only those who stay in single rooms or the same room of NTU Prince House and Hsiu Chi House are allowed to take self-initiated prevention for seven days in the dormitory rooms.
- Individuals who do not take the 7-day self-initiated prevention in NTU Prince House or Hsiu Chi House should stay at an off-campus place and return to the NTU dormitories only after completing the 7-day self-initiated prevention.
C. The measures for close contacts of confirmed cases remain as follows:
- Family members or roommates living together with confirmed cases:
(1) Please notify the epidemic prevention contact person of your unit/department and report to the "Reporting system for health management on campus" system (https://my.ntu.edu.tw/ntuwdc/internalReport1.aspx) of the NTU Website for Disease Control.
(2) If you have completed 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccination, you can take 7-day self-initiated prevention or 3-day home isolation followed by 4-day self-initiated prevention.
(3) If you have not yet completed 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccination, you should take 3-day home isolation followed by 4-day self-initiated prevention.
(4) Please take 3-day home isolation following the principle of “1 person per room with a private bathroom.” Please don’t go outdoors during home isolation.
- Individuals having been exposed to confirmed cases and taking self-initiated responsive measures (having contact with confirmed cases within 2 meters at the same workplace, classroom, or event).
(1) Individuals exposed to confirmed cases for more than 15 minutes with either party having no mask on 2 days before testing positive will be provided with 1 rapid test kit. Individuals testing negative and with no symptoms can return to the campus (with no 3-day epidemic prevention leave). Please seek medical attention as soon as possible if symptoms occur.
(2) Please notify the epidemic prevention contact person of your unit/department. The relevant information should be filled in by the epidemic prevention contact person in the epidemic report form of the confirmed person. There is no need to report it on the NTU Website for Disease Control.
D. The measures for individuals taking self-initiated prevention (including returning travelers and close contacts of confirmed cases) are adjusted as follows:
- During the self-initiated prevention period, individuals who do not show any symptoms can come to the campus after testing negative on a rapid test within two days (For instance, if you intend to come to the campus on 10/20, you need to test negative on a rapid test on either 10/19 or 10/20).
- Please do not come to the campus if any symptoms occur.
- Wear a mask at all times on campus and maintain social distancing. Masks can be taken off when dining and should be put back on immediately after meals.
- Individuals can dine at school restaurants when necessary, alone or with particular persons. Please put your mask back on immediately after meals or when leaving your seat.
- Non-urgent medical services or examinations should be postponed.
E. The principles for distributing free rapid test kits on campus remain as follows:
- NTU community members that are close contacts of confirmed cases on campus (family members or roommates): 2 test kits per person
- NTU community members taking self-initiated responsive measures and being together with confirmed cases for more than 15 minutes with either party having no mask on two days before testing positive or confirmed with COVID-19: 1 test kit per person
- The distribution measures:
(1) Students in NTU dormitories having contacts with confirmed cases on campus (including roommates in the same dormitory room and individuals taking self-initiated responsive measures who had been together with confirmed cases in the dormitory for more than 15 minutes): please contact the dormitory counselor to pick up a rapid test kit.
(2) Other individuals having contact with confirmed cases on campus and taking self-initiated responsive measures:
- Faculty and staff of the NTU administrative units: please go to the top-level administrative units to pick up a rapid test kit.
- Faculty, staff and students of the NTU colleges/departments: Please go to your affiliated college/department to pick up a rapid test kit. If you have already received a rapid test kit from your dormitory counselor, please do not pick it up again.
(3) The recipients listed above should be consistent with the list of contacts on the epidemic report form of the confirmed person, and the recipient’s ID must be checked when receiving rapid test kits.
F. The measures for vaccination leave and epidemic prevention leave are adjusted as follows:
- Application method: Please follow the steps on the “Student Leave Request” webpage (https://advisory.ntu.edu.tw/CMS/Page/95).
- Applying for vaccination leave:
(1) Students who feel unwell after being vaccinated can apply for vaccination leave. If you still feel unwell after the period for which you can apply for vaccination leave, you can apply for sick leave following the NTU student leave regulations.
(2) Days of leave: Up to 3 days (including the day of vaccination)
(3) Supporting document: COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card
(4) Vaccination leave will not be included in the absence record.
- Applying for epidemic prevention leave:
(1) Students who are unable to attend classes may apply for epidemic prevention leave for the following reasons, including “taking home isolation,” “taking self-initiated prevention and with COVID-19 symptoms,” or following other epidemic prevention regulations announced by the University.
(2) Days of leave: Determined based on “Tracking and Management Mechanism for People under Infection Risk” announced by the Central Epidemic Command Center or the regulations announced by the NTU epidemic prevention team.
(3) Supporting documents: Official notices or supporting documents issued by the government or notices issued by the University.
(4) Individuals taking self-initiated prevention and with symptoms, please submit a medical certificate for epidemic prevention leave exceeding three days.
(5) Epidemic prevention leave will not be included in the absence record.
G. The measures for faculty and staff taking leave of absence are as follows:
Faculty and staff who intend to travel abroad do not need signed approval from Vice Presidents. All the faculty and staff may submit their applications to the NTU Online Attendance and Leave System for approval. Please note that all the applications should be submitted to the system no matter the nature of the trip, or whether the time of going abroad is during winter and summer vacations or regular holidays. Also, when submitting an application, please indicate the country of travel, the reason for going abroad, the time of going abroad and other relevant information, to complete the procedure of applying for a leave of absence. As for the staff at Senior Rank (Grade 11 or equivalent to Grade 11) management positions, or faculty members holding adjunct administrative positions, please follow the relevant regulations for going to Mainland China when traveling there.
